Ain’t THIS Some S@#!

So I get home late today and turn on CNN and what did I see? John “Ulysses” Edwards, the south’s first son dappin’ up Señor Obama. Now I can’t say that this scene came as a complete surprise to me as Edwards has been hinting towards this moment over the past few days. But compared to where they two stood four months ago, it’s actually kind of shocking.

“I’m from a small town called ‘Whoop a lil’ Illinois Senator’s @$$’, and your makin’ me HOMESICK!”
“Boy! Don’t you know I will KILL you….”

I initially thought that Edwards would have leaned more towards the Clinton campaign as their views and proposed policies were more similar (and less practical) than Obama’s; however, I always liked Edwards’ humility and general concern for “the little guy”, a passion that was present, but not as strongly felt by his opponents. I guess it’s not really a surprise that he eventually sided w/ Obama after Hillary’s “He can’t win White America!” line reinforced Edward’s whole “2 America’s” theme that he’s so terrified about. It seemed Hillary’s point, weak as it may be, was somehow given more credibility after she handed Obama’s ass to him in West Virginia. I just feel that Edwards didn’t want to let that concept split the party up, plus he gets to air out his message of unity some more, a message that got him 7% of the vote in the West Virginia primary (long after he dropped out the race).

Either way, the site of Edwards back on the stage was empowering and uplifting, and truly gave another much needed breathe of fresh air to this campaign of change. It helped re-excite my interest in the process and helped keep my faith in a system that has basically shitted on us for the past decade.

Just like they planned, homey. Obama had Edwards in the wings the whole time; saving him for the last push. Don’t you remember the latter debates before Edwards dropped out and you could see them clearly defending each other versus Hillary? I’d be surprised if he isn’t Obama’s choice as a running mate (as the talk back then was) because it was clear that Edwards appeals to all of the America that Obama doesn’t. Half of the reason Hillary has stayed in the race (besides occasionally thinking she actually could win) is to make herself seem the running-mate requisite for the White House.

Hypothetically, had Edwards been a republican, the GOP would have this race sewn up. He’s moral as f*ck, young, “handsome”, married forever, favorite son of hard-working South, the list of superficial attributes that your average voter doesn’t look beyond goes on and on (look how far Romney got on that - who names their child “Mitt”?!). BUT that’s not the case so, even though Haterade may SEEM the necessary VP choice, you put an uber-American cat like Eddy with Big O and the blues (Dems) are set.

(Yes, his rap name would be “Big O”; said w/ a southern twang and referencing the animé).
