Sherrif Diesel Gets the Boot

“Kobe, how my @$$ taste?”

While I was laughing my butt off, Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County, AZ wasn’t. Big Shaq Diesel’s now infamous (and slightly homo-erotic) freestyle has now costs him his honorary deputy and colonel’s badge for use of derogatory, profane, and racially invigorated dope lyrics in a freestyle jab aimed at former teammate an homeslice Kobe Bryant.

Sherriff Arpaio, who is arguably renowned as pretty much the “toughest sheriff up IN this MoFo”, says the decision to revoke both Shaq’s badges came easy and believes that although Shaq is a star, there is still is personal accountability when you’re a public figure seen as a role model. Arpaio went on to say:

“I want his two badges back,” Arpaio told The Associated Press on Tuesday. “Because if any one of my deputies did something like this, they’re fired. I don’t condone this type of racial conduct.”

“Maybe I’m old fashioned, but I don’t think that either conduct should be out there publicly, even if media wasn’t there,” Arpaio said.

Shaq was seen in a video posted on the celebrity news and gossip Web site TMZ.com rapping that “Kobe couldn’t do without me.” O’Neal skewers the Lakers’ star, with whom he won three straight NBA titles from 2000-2002 while with Los Angeles, for not being able to win a championship without him.

“I was freestyling. That’s all. It was all done in fun. Nothing serious whatsoever,” O’Neal told ESPN.com Monday. A call to the Suns on Tuesday seeking comment from O’Neal was referred to his public relations firm, which didn’t immediately respond.

For me, it’s good to see celebs being held responsible for their actions, I mean I think everyone thought the freestyle was hilarious and in good spirit (except Kobe prolly), but that still is something that conflicts w/ his position as a special deputy. Most of the time those titles don’t mean nothing, but I must admit Sheriff Arpaio’s decision shows that he takes his job and all titles given very seriously, apparently something that Shaq and many others unknowingly take for granted.
