Hip Hop Ready for Gay Rappers?

shawty lo

Again, I may be late w/ this one but “Better late then never” or as Senor West says, “You should be honored by my lateness.”

One of my favorite songs right now is the “They Know” Remix by Shawty Lo a founding member of D4L (who brought us Laffy Taffy). Let me first get this out before I proceed. This song is a exemplary display of BAD RAPPING. But that’s what I like about it so much, it’s a fun song and an even funner song to make fun of (”funner“, write that down, you’ll wanna use it later). But what strikes me more than the song’s comical nature (intended or accidental), is the fact that the artist’s voice is so effeminate, it’s actually the textbook example of a stereotypical homosexual’s voice. If you haven’t heard it, do yourself a favor and listen/watch this…please. Read more

How Did It All Begin…

You on point Fife? Yo, all the time Tip….!

Sorry I got some Tribe Called Quest on heavy rotation
So today, I want to write about my recent observations on religion. I’ve been trying to correlate the differences between Christianity and Islam. I’ve had the opportunity lately to hang out with some very interesting people who are extremely spiritual and I guess what I’ve noticed is what I wish to explicate. I think it’s important to note where it all started. I’m going to do something that I promised my colleague on this blog that I wouldn’t do. But I can’t tell the story without doing it. I’m going to quote a part from a television episode from a show that I’m sure alot of people know about.

Dumb it down!!

Mary J Blige

Go sit down til you learn how to appreciate this here…

In the R&B aisle of my most frequented spot to pick up music (as in ‘yes, i actually like having a physical CD and reading liner notes from a booklet’), I ran into a melanin-deficient fellow who asked me what was new. His question being general as f*ck, I asked him what style he was into. He responded that he wanted some ‘real singers’. Instantly, a list popped into my head. As I prepared to see how far into the ‘real singers’ he got so i could make a suggestion he interrupted. You know how they say, ‘Better to be thought a fool and remain silent…’ … yeah. He sees the Jill Scott CD in front of him and says “Yeah, but, not Jill Scott though. I want somebody with some pipes; like Mary J.” Wow, really? He then proceeded to attempt to let me in on ‘the real thing’. Supposedly he saw Jill in concert and felt she was too wrapped up in being Jill Scott; kept doing all these ‘vocal things’. ::sigh:: I asked him ‘what makes you feel that way?’ He couldn’t say, only that ’she just gave that vibe’. Ri-i-i-ight. Sounds like some personal insecurities to me, homey.

Silly Little Girls…

Ladies, sisters, women, my children….please please please stop trying to holler at my brothers when you’re married or in a relationship. I don’t know HOW MANY times I’ve encountered women who fit into either of those categories and have told me how they secretly desired to sleep with lets just say, person x.

You’re married! You’re in a relationship. Now, I’m not going to generalize and say that the word fidelity nowadays in the U.S. is a pastime or anything, because it isn’t. But according to NationMaster, the U.S. has the highest divorce rate in the world. That has to mean something…although according to the U.S. Census Bureau divorce rate numbers had been on a steady decline lately. Notwithstanding, women staying/living in this country need to get their priorities straight. For god’s sake, even the concierge lady at my job had a huge grin on her face as she filled out her divorce papers today. That shit ain’t supposed to be funny last time I checked. Read more

Foxy Brown
… i couldn’t feign any more enthusiasm.

US hip-hop artist Foxy Brown has been released from jail after serving eight months of her one-year sentence.

The punishment stemmed from an attack on two Manhattan nail salon stylists over a $20 (£10) manicure in 2004, which led to three years probation.

She was then jailed last September when she was accused of hitting a woman with a mobile phone and a judge ruled she was not taking probation seriously.

She spent 76 days in isolation after having a fight with another inmate.

Foxy Brown’s albums include Ill Na Na and Chyna Doll, which went to number one in the US in 1999. (BBC News)

Wow… really?!
You know… she and Flava Flav might really hit it off… let it marinate.

Ghar - E - Kabab…Ohhh Yeah!

Plates of exquisite Ghar

First off, this is the first place….that I have encountered, EVER, that uses organic food. An Indian and Nepali restaurant that uses organic food! What more could you want!?!?!

Under the about us section, we have the following (taken from their website.)

“Lok Tiwari, the Nepalese co-owner of Ghar-E-Kabab, always harbored the dream of opening his own restaurant. While working in the kitchen of the Marriott (Renaissance in Down Town Washington DC) he was inspired by that company’s efforts to strip trans-fats from their foods. Tiwari began thinking of ways to make his native Nepalese and Indian food healthier. In his ideal restaurant classic vegetarian dishes would be made from locally grown organic produce effused with Indian and Nepalese spices. Read more

Your Boss is Watching: Why am I working…?

April 19, 2008 by The Prophet · Leave a Comment

So yeh, my boss comes into my office late Friday afternoon and is trying to get my opinion on the best technique to work around some system flaws to do some data migration. After talking to me in circles for about twenty minutes, he turns to me and says “I need you to put on your ‘thinking cap’ for a second” Are you serious? Am I in third grade? It really irks me when people insult my intelligence, intentionally or not. Read more
